The IWD 2026 Give To Gain Campaign encourages a mindset of generosity and collaboration. When we give, we gain. Together, let's help forge gender equality through abundant giving. 

Join us on March 8th for powerful speeches from local activists and community leaders Speakers include:
  • Brianna Price: Brianna is the Accessibility Coordinator at the SFSS, where she collaborates with the SFU Disability and Neurodiversity Alliance to support students. She is also a multidisciplinary artist, poet, performer and games designer focused on trans and disability justice, currently designing tabletop role-playing games that empower people to reclaim personhood.
  • Annie Ohana: Annie is an internationally recognized educator and anti-oppression curriculum specialist. She is the Equity Co-Department Head at LA Matheson Secondary, founder of Mustang Justice, and president of Sher Pride Canada. She works with global organizations including writing curricula for films on 2SLGBTQIA+ lives, anti-radicalization and humanitarian law.
  • Karen Larsen: Karen is an environmentalist and volunteer with Sue Big Oil, a campaign that unites people concerned about the climate crisis and its growing impacts on local communities. Sue Big Oil urges municipalities to pursue legal action and demand accountability from major polluters.
  • Nariman Ajjur: Nariman is a Palestinian from Gaza, a mother of three, community organizer, and human rights advocate based in the Metro Vancouver area. Her work centres collective care, justice, and the power of grassroots organizing led by women and mothers.
  • Maryam Mazrooei: Maryam is an artist, journalist, and war photographer whose work focuses on documenting the lives of women and children in conflict zones and amplifying oppressed voices. As a survivor of arrest and imprisonment during the "Woman, Life, Freedom" revolution in Iran, her work stands at the intersection of art, resistance, and human rights.
  • Syd Grischow: Syd is a graduate student in Sociology at the University of Victoria. Her work focuses on reproductive justice and abortion access, with particular attention to barriers to contraception and the challenges surrounding reproductive care.
  • Sarina Virani: Sarina is an Ismaili Muslim woman of colour. She is the founder of the BIPOC Reading Buddies program at the Vancouver Black Library, and @thebeautyinbipoc, a photography collective by and for women of colour that strives to address Eurocentric beauty standards through shared discourse and reflection.
  • Falon Shanti: Falon is a speaker focused on confidence, identity growth, and personal leadership, and the founder and host of Voyce Unlocked. She helps women navigating transition to develop clarity, self-trust, and courage to use their voice.
  • A performance from the Solidarity Notes Choir, a group of activists who share a progressive labour, political and social agenda. They use music to educate, connect, and remind us of our strength and the history of our fight for labour and human rights.
  • Followed by a march through Vancouver city centre!

Starting at 11:00 a.m. there will be a free sign-making station so you can show Vancouver what you're marching for! Other entertainment includes a Kid's Activity Table and a merch booth. There will also be ASL interpreters.
