Yasmin (she/her)
Volunteer Chair IWD is important to Yasmin because she believes in order to achieve a more equitable world on all fronts, we need to put self-identifying women and their intersectional needs at the centre of the journey. Through all injustices, women suffer the most and as we can see in the current state of the world, we are not as far in the fight as we should be. This is why it’s important to highlight women’s current struggles as well as commemorate and celebrate the women who fought before us - worldwide and in our very own community. Fun fact about Yasmin: She also writes children’s books! |
Megan (she/her)
Volunteer Vice-Chair IWD is important to Megan because it means bringing our community together to celebrate achievements, uplift voices, and raise awareness. Megan hopes IWD is a chance for not only women & gender-diverse folks, but also our allies and people in positions of power, to amplify and take action on equity and safety issues that still need so much attention. Megan cares deeply about creating safe and inclusive spaces and is really excited and grateful to be part of the team organizing this march. Fun fact about Megan: She recently adopted a puppy from Los Cabos and loves him more than words can describe <3 |
Karissa (she/her)
Volunteer Public Relations Coordinator IWD is important to Karissa because she is passionate about community activism, equity and sustainability measures, and awareness of the numerous issues that women and marginalized groups are facing around the world. In a world that increasingly feels apathetic and bleak, IWD gives us an opportunity to platform the voices of amazing community activists and the important and tireless work they do. Fun fact about Karissa: She has two pet garden snails (named Snal and Larry) that she found in a bucket of blueberries from a Farmer's Market. |
Sydney (she/they)
Volunteer Content Coordinator IWD is important to Sydney because raising awareness for the experiences, struggles, and successes of women, gender-diverse, and other marginalized folks globally is one of the ways that we can uplift our worldwide imagined community while also drawing attention to the many issues that need our collective action. Fun Fact about Sydney: Her favourite Vancouver area craft market is the annual Weirdos Market! |
